I Tried...

Philippine election 2010 sucked!... big time!

My duty ended 5 am today and I intended to go directly to the precinct where I was assigned so I could cast my vote. Alas! When I arrived 10 minutes shy of 7 am there were already a lot of people there. The facilitators had started giving out priority numbers which is quite new to me 'cuz this was not the case during the last election.

Sleepy and tired from the previous night, I decided that I just get a number, go home, rest and come back later to vote.

I went back to my precinct around 5 pm and the number of people, I think, doubled. There were also long lines for every classroom and around me were angry and irritated people. When I tried to find out what number they were serving, I still needed to wait for 200+ more people to finish voting.

Given that I still had a duty that night at 8 pm, I decided to just go home.

I really wanted to vote because I wanted to take advantage of this state given right and privilege. But because of the voting process this Philippine elections 2010, I wasn't able to. Hopefully next elections, the system and the process for voting will be more effective. But for this election, all I can say is, at least I tried...
